When we go for registration of our property, we make sure that it is under- valued and it is registered with a very low registration charge by paying bribes. This is our CULTURE.
When we try to get our passport or driving license, we will not have time to follow the rules. We approach middlemen and brokers and go by the shortest path to get our job done. This is called by us as COMPULSION.
Most of us, may not be all of us, have been doing such things for past several years and created a demand – supply chain to get things done at various levels. These chains created some rich and powerful people. They either turned into politicians or supported politicians and made these chains much stronger. Now, this has become a CYCLE.
These C’s i.e. Culture, Compulsion, Cycle, when seen together started looking like a horrifying demon called CORRUPTION. So, when a few clean, honest and non-political social activists like Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi raised their voice against corruption and started protests demanding a strong Jan Lokpal bill, naturally majority of Indians came together to support their demand.
Can a single Lokpal bill curb corruption?I am not worried if Government and civil society agree upon Jan Lokpal or Govt Lokpal or NCPRI Lokpal or something else. But, to be very frank, I feel, no it cannot make much difference. But why?
- Because, our society is driven by neo-liberal capitalism, in which the bond between politicians – bureaucrats – corporate world made sure that society always remains corrupt. Still the corporate companies talk about clean governance. J
- Because, in India corruption is a culture, corruption is compulsion, corruption is a cycle. We never want to be corruption-free because we will miss convenience and comfort.
- Because the track record of we, the Indians in matters like social responsibility and commitment is very bad.
- Because, we, the Indians, are very reluctant to have civic sense and awareness.
- Because, for each of us at individual level, corruption is something that A.Raja or Kalmadi does. But, we feel as if we were 100% corruption free. Are we really clean?
- Because we live in a society full of inequality, where the poor are forced to follow the path created by the rich. The rich are creating corrupt people for the sake of their convenience and comfort and the corrupt people are sucking blood from the poor.
In a society, full of so many contradictions and inequalities, what can a Lokpal bill do? Can it change the society overnight? Will India become corruption free with the help of one bill? Will public mindset change after Lokpal comes into effect? Then, how about the above bullets?
I questioned myself and got an answer that hit me like a slap on my face. Now read the title of my blog !!

Coming to self-prospective “Corruption bujayee pyaas baaki all bakwaas”, coming to social-prospective, even Raja and R(k)ani could have been Anna supporters if they are outside. But only truth is we can stop a little bit after 100% success. Finally Your title is the ultimate solution for Corruption which is not possible for self-prospective,thats why we are following social-prospective as a supporter of Anna.
Corruption can not be removed from the root just by this bill. But one way I am sure somewhere there is a hope that atleast top level huge corruption is not so easy after this. I will agree with you it starts from the DL, Gas connection and Ration card and vehicle registration. These are some of the daily normal things we directly deal with the corruption. If we dont get a voter card we are not bothered but if we dont get a driving license we will. So all these things catched with one another.
Youngsters like us should start and commit themselves atleast they will not start to bribe just by saying I dont have time and later join this type of movements. Anyway all is well let us start again for the new future and support for the good cause. Only thing which makes us to give bribe is scared with what happens next... Nothing will happen just matter of delay.. just think for how long they can delay for all in the coming days lets fight for that problem later...Jai HIND...

I totally agree with you both. as far as dealing with corruption at system level, catching "big fish" is really really important. these big fish include politicians, corporates, administrators and lobbyists etc. so strong and strict laws are definitely required to tackle corruption at a large scale.
at this moment, this anti-corruption campaign has support from urban middle class. not many people are willing to talk about corporate corruption and inequality. this class of English speaking urban people feel that corporate companies are very clean and only politicians are corrupt. inequality does not exist, as far their understanding is concerned. i could have mentioned this point in my blog.
but root cause for corruption i feel, lies in inequality in the society and social irresponsibility of a few individuals and business organizations. thats how it all started and turned an incurable and infectious disease.
we'll wait and watch hw the events will turn out. lets hope at least the coming generations in India will get some relief from corruption, not just because of Lokpal but with an overall development of society. Jai Hind !!
My only concern is my tax amount should not be used by some individuals,.. and by taking our tax paid amount developed countries enjoying with their banks. Hope to see some day things difficult to transact in crores with the governemnt money and resources. Jai Hind..
Yes..the title is apt
Everyone has to be disciplined to achieve prosperity..
Body will be healthy only if all the cells, tissues, organs to brain are good and coordinating..we cannot expect only brain to be good and rest all will be good. Everything is connected..We are connected to government and other people in whatever we do
