We miss your songs !!!!

When the whole media is talking a popular Telugu film star's new endeavours, in this blog I am presenting my feelings on his songs, that we have been enjoying since our childhood.

Bellyful of lunch, cool breeze thanks to the air-conditioner and finally boring code or document on the computer screen. If a software engineer can not sleep in spite of having all these, we should salute him/her. Believe me; afternoons pose the toughest challenge for any software engineer. During the beginning of my career, on one fine (d) afternoon, I was struggling really hard to control my sleep. My efforts went in vain. I had chat with my colleagues, walked for sometime and had a cup of tea. Nothing did really help. Then I was struck with a brilliant idea.

Yes, Music!!! Listening to music might make me active, I thought. I searched a lot for my favourite numbers on my machine and started playing them. The very first song gave me such a kick that I repeated it twice or thrice. Then I played many songs full of josh, one after another. My energy levels were touching their peak, within half an hour :) Were those songs really special? My answer is an emphatic yes. The first 5 songs I listened were high energy songs from a Telugu film RUDRANETRA. Then followed the songs from the movies Kodamasimham, Kondaveeti donga, Rakshasudu State Rowdy and Rowdy alludu etc. All these are the movies of my favourite hero Chiranjeevi.( I am not going to use the titles like Megastar, Padmabhusahn along with his name!!! )

Many of the Telugu guys in their 20s and 30s, grew up listening to Chiranjeevi songs. During 80s and early 90s, Chiranjeevi’s movies used to offer “assorted genre” albums. You name the genre of the song and I bet you were going to get it. Let they be the rocking ones with western beats or foot tapping numbers with folk beats or “semi” romantic melodies. According to me, the songs composed by Ilayaraja for Chiranjeevi’s movies are simply timeless. Of course, how I can deny the role of producers, directors, musicians (Ilayaraja, Raj-Koti) and singers (SPB, Mano) in elevating the songs to such a great level? Still, “the” source of energy that drove all those technicians was Chiranjeevi. He had to offer trendy dances in each of his movies that demanded wonderful songs. Rest was the history.

Unfortunately, Chiranjeevi seen in his recent movies was not same as our childhood hero Chiranjeevi. The reason is that time changes and people lose their energy due to age. He is no exception. So in the past 10 years, he slowly brought down the level of his dances and naturally the quality of his songs also came down. His songs were no longer rocking. Even when I tried to force my mind to like them, they were not appealing. Instead, I stuck to his old songs. Very sad!! Now he graduated to a politician. I do not know if he is going to act in films again or not. To be realistic, even if he acts, we can not expect the same kind of songs. Still, getting convinced is really tough. But no other go!!!! All we can do is giving Three Cheers to Chiranjeevi and all the technicians behind those songs !!!  Lastly, we miss your songs Chiru !! :(
